Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to create a decider.
Moutet saved four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
