Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced resorting to tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.

Understanding BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

A number of these gated guns might eventually find their way on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and maybe Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply will never acquire the locked firearms.

For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
